A Win is a Win and Bucs Win 3-0

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pirates defeated the Braves 3-0 and nothing was pretty about it. The Pirates kicked it around, ran into one another, had some errant throws, a balk, a few walks and Paul Maholm beaned a couple to which he said after the game, “I told him I pitch slow enough that you need to get out of the way.” Maholm was sharp when he needed to be and the defense was likewise getting him out of a few jams. Once it got to John Grabow and Matt Capps, well it was over as our insane record shows when we have [...]

Tough Pirates Loss Got You Down? Press Play on Pedro’s First Homerun as a Pirate

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sure Pirates fans, games like yesterday happen, but just remember…someday soon in PNC Park and other stadiums throughout the country…someone in the stands is going to heckle Pedro Alvarez like the person in the video below.  After a Pedro swing and a miss, I believe the heckler says, “You can’t hit what you can’t see!”  Uhh, mistake. *Enter

We Now Return You to Your Regularly Scheduled Broadcast, The Pedro Alvarez Show

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Lynchburg Hillcats sit atop the Carolina League Northern Division with a 6-2 record after Pedro Alvarez blasted a three run walk off home run yesterday.  It took a team effort.  But all eyes at Rumbunter are on one man.  (The) Pedro Alvarez (Show.) So why not warm up the helicopter as was suggested after Alvarez’ impressive display in the opener?  Well as most know, ‘The Show’ was temporarily interupted by a power outage, a temporary hiatus if you will, or just a plain old case of stage fright.  Regardless of the reason, the show has returned.  Sure, we were [...]

Walk the Plank

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pittsburgh Pirates record is 4-4. When a Pirates starter goes six innings the record is 4-2. Guess what when he doesn’t? When the Pirates are leading the game after seven innings, the Pirates are 3-0. When the opposition throws someone that is a pitcher’s name  that you remember from the past, we are 0-3. When they don’t guess what the Pirates record is? If you think DY as he was called in LA is just another pickup, take a few moments and check out some Dodger Blogs. Don’t feel like it?  Here is the recap I took from reading several.  He made [...]

Pirates Distraction II: Kayne West, NBA, It’s Amazing Video

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pirates will also compete with The NBA Playoffs. Yeh, another reason to stay home, the NBA Playoffs are upon us and I must say the NBA in HD is pretty amazing for this country boy. Next to golf, it could be the best sport for HD. The Pirates have always had competition for the entertainment dollar. I trust this weather will shake some fans loose over the next few days. Anyway, I want to get all the distractions on the table and thanks to our friends at awful announcing….here is what you will be seeing a lot of over [...]

Pirates Distraction I: Hockey Players Trying to be Actors

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NHL Hockey Playoffs have arrived. Amazingly, I was able to watch the hockey game, but wasn’t allowed to watch the Pirates. Even with MLB Extra Innings. It’s a real touchy subject with me. And no, I don’t need the breakdown on what a blackout is. Thanks Pops, JP, ahhh..you all know who you are! Not that you asked me, but I think that baseball players are better actors than hockey players. With the Pens big win last night, I was able to watch numerous hockey players in commercials. (I had some time when I jumped back and forth from [...]

Astros Break Championship Model of the Past. How is that Working?

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Before the season began, Rumbunter looked at the home opening series against the Astros as a spot to make some ground, now after the Astros are off to the worst start since the Reagan adminstration, people are becoming upset.  Does the grumbling from the Houston faithful sound familar to Pirates fans?  You gotta get a free agent hitter with that money Nutting!  Why not sign (insert overpaid left fielder/shortstop/first baseman here)?  I can’t believe we didn’t sign Doug ManCaveich?  Countless reporters preach that the Pirates don’t have enough pop to contend this season.  Oh yeh, look at the past gentlemen.  [...]

So Sweet My Teeth Hurt; Pirates Win Opener 7-0

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Bucs took care of the Astros yesterday setting a tone for an important homestand in which The Astros served mainly as formality today. It was a somber beginning as the Pirates paid tribute to our fallen heroes of the PBP (Pittsburgh Bureau of Police) It felt great to be a Pirate fan.  It was also great to assist the PBP. Some pictures from an amazing day for baseball in Pittsburgh. Some thoughts: Cotton candy, Cracker Jack, man I love this game. Is there a better video than the Steve Blass celebration and his locker room reaction?  WOW! It was nice [...]

John Daly Dominates The Masters

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Not a golfer in the field can match this man when he takes the stage.  Step aside Tiger Woods.  Big John made an appearance in Augusta and is 40 pounds leaner and still ready to Grip It and Rip It.  Of course, everyone knows John Daly is our favorite golfer here at Rumbunter,  Daly was at The Masters for the Drive for Show, Rock Fore! Dough Concert.  Here is the video, Daly was on stage with Hootie as usual.
