The Fickle Fingers of Pirates Fans
In Pittsburgh, the fickle fingers of fans fly furiously over the keyboard. Bench him, trade him, release him. Being the fan of a team with 16 straight losing seasons can be frustrating, but it does not mean we have to lose objectivity. The 2009 baseball season is still in the first half and fans have called for every Pirate starter to be benched at some point this season except for Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez (and of course Andrew McCutchen, who hasn’t been up long enough to slump). At least the fans recognize there is no one on the team [...]
Pirates-Twins Matchup Boils Down to Mauer, Morneau
KEEP THE M&M BOYS OFF THE BASEPATHS Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau were the best hitters in all of baseball last month. The M&M boys combined to hit. 386 with 20 homers, 16 doubles, and 61 RBI in 30 games. They finished two games under .500.
John Perrotto has some scoop. And the scoop makes sense with new Rockies Manager/former Bucs skipper Jim Tracy being a fan

Golf for Maz
The Bill Mazeroski Golf Tournament will be held the next few days culminating when the first ball is put on the tee at 10am Tuesday on Mystic Rock, the home course for the PGA ’s 84 Lumber Classic for a number of years. It has quickly become a favorite of Rumbunter. The festivities will kick off on Monday night with a meet and greet at Mulligans at Nemacolin Woodlands. Mulligan’s is breathtaking. It sits between the tee box for hole number ten and the green for hole number eleven on the Mystic Rock golf course. The Meet and Greet begins at 7pm on Monday night [...]
Ben Roethlisberger loves a challenge. From being the first quarterback to go 13-0 during his rookie season in the NFL to being the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, to leading his Steeler team on the game winning 78 yard, eight play drive to win Super Bowl XLIII, Roethlisberger has shown the ability to succeed despite all odds. Another example was his scorecard from today on Bethpage Black as part of the Golf Digest US Open Challenge. An 81 Another challenge, another impressive result. Especialy for a part time golfer who had tweaked his knee in Steeler OTA’s last week, had been sacked a [...]
What hasn’t Big Ben done in the NFL? Out of towners, Roethlisberger is that man you love to hate isn’t he. He can do it all. And he did it to your team didn’t he? Oh, everyone in Pittsburgh just loves to soak in the spoils of the Steelers record sixth Super Bowl victory. Thus, having mastered the art of throwing a football and breaking the hearts of countless NFL fans in cities throughout our great country, including yours, Big Ben will take off those two monster Super Bowl rings and grab his sticks today. He will attempt to break [...]
Pirates Split Atlanta
Mondesis House had this great shot of Bill Guerin at the Rowdy BBQ on Rt. 51. GO PENS! *Enter Neil plainly said it’s not about being mediocre in the video from April 15, 2009. I love the part about the parade. ______________________________________________________ When asked about topics of the Pirates, I seem to be the one with the differing opinion. Neil Huntington and his team have looked very differently at the monumental task of building a winner in Pittsburgh. It has been an awful big pill for most fans to swallow. Although on the job only a short time, NH [...]
