In Pittsburgh, the fickle fingers of fans fly furiously over the keyboard. Bench him, trade him, release him.  Being the fan of a team with 16 straight losing seasons can be frustrating, but it does not mean we have to lose objectivity. The 2009 baseball season is still in the first half and fans have called for every Pirate starter to be benched at some point this season except for Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez (and of course Andrew McCutchen, who hasn’t been up long enough to slump). KEEP THE M&M BOYS OFF THE BASEPATHS Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau were the best hitters in all of baseball last month.  The M&M boys combined to hit. 386 with 20 homers, 16 doubles, and 61 RBI in 30 games.  They finished two games under .500.

The Bill Mazeroski Golf Tournament will be held the next few days culminating when the first ball is put on the tee at 10am Tuesday on Mystic Rock, the home course for the PGA ’s 84 Lumber Classic for a number of years.  It  has quickly become a favorite of Rumbunter.  The festivities will kick off on Monday night with a meet and greet at Mulligans at Nemacolin Woodlands.
