Pirates Maholm Needs to Go Six Today
Pittsburgh Pirates left hander Paul Maholm makes his 24th start of the season this afternoon in Colorado. In his past five starts,
Ohlendorf, McCutchen Lead Pirates Past Rockies 7-3
Andrew McCutchen reached base four times, scored three runs and stole three bases as the Pirates cooled off the hot Rockies with a 7-3 victory. McCutchen continued a positive trend and showed patience at the plate as he drew three walks. McCutchen has drawn eight walks in his last ten games. McCutchen has scored 12 of the Pirates 46 runs in the last ten games.
Andrew McCutchen continues to dominate in his rookie year for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Since getting the call from the Pirates at his Indianapolis apartment on June 3, McCutchen has been clutch. Dexter Fowler has done the same for the playoff contending Rockies all season long despite a mid season slump. The 22-year old McCutchen replaced
Snoop Dogg, Spike Lee, Dr. Dre, Carmelo and Chris Brown all have one thing in common. They are fake Pittsburgh fans. Snoop started the madness this week and since the Pirates are working hard at moving into the Bryce Harper sweepstakes, I needed a break. Enjoy Surely you saw the above photo of Snoop this week and the story in the Baltimore Sun. It got me to thinking about fake fans. Big fakes that wear Pittsburgh gear and…… wear every other teams gear as well, Snoop has been seen in nearly every teams gear. In fact he wore two MLB teams hats in [...]
Pirates: Fake It If You Don’t Belong, Donnie Veal Sent to DL, Fake Injury Hall of Shame
Donnie Veal is the Pirates Rule 5 pick that has spent most of the season enjoying the view from the Pirate bullpen, on the bench. You remember earlier in the year Veal had a ‘pulled muscle’ and spent time in Indy on rehab assignment. Ahem…that silly Veal is so clumbsy, he has now sprained his left index finger. The Pirates placed Veal on the DL and recalled Chris Bootcheck. Hit the music below and Ladies and Gentlemen we present the fake injuries hall of shame: *Enter A Voodoo Doctor is on staff for the Boston Celtics to heal Paul Pearce [...]
How does this Pirates veteran reporter feel he is entitled to an interview with two Pirates players after the Pirates loss last night? Seriously, who in America works like this? The media request who they want to speak with and when those requests aren’t granted…. an article comes out bashing the leadership, the players? Whose job works like this? Seriously, who has a job like this? So in your line of work, let’s say you are in sales. You don’t get a sale at work. What do you do? Roll up the sleeves and dig deeper into why you didn’t [...]
The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the hard hitting Arizona Diamondbacks 11-6 in 12 innings last night at PNC Park. The Diamondbacks pounded Pirates pitchers for 21 hits, sending one to the minors after the game, and captured the win with a five run 12th inning. Ugly game notes: Kevin Hart touched 96 on the gun tonight. His FX graph over at the Brooks Baseball site shows his impressive stuff. Click here to check it out. Great stuff. The key for Hart’s outing. Fifth inning. Score tied at 2. Runner on second. He battled. 3-2 count. Numerous foul balls. Didn’t give in. [...]
Pirates Send a Baby Gift: Roberts Won’t Be in Uniform for Diamondbacks Tonight Against Pirates
Arizona Diamondback Ryan Roberts is pulling a Garrett Jones. Minus the neck ink. Roberts came out of the Texas baseball program, picked by the Blue Jays, FA in 2008 and went to the Rangers. Roberts slid over to the Diamondbacks in the off season. Roberts had a great spring training and made the DBacks ballclub. He was assigned to the Reno Aces. God, how nice would he have been in a Pirates uniform…just like Garrett Jones? I would have loved to see him in the black and gold rather than CRUSHING our pitching staff. Roberts has made the most of the [...]
The eighth inning came back to haunt the Pittsburgh Pirates again last night. The Pirates have been outscored 62-37 this season in the eighth inning of games. The eighth inning fiasco continued last night.
Jason Bay, Xavier Nady, and Nate McLouth were what Pirate fans called the most powerful outfield in baseball. At last night’s game, we heard it countless times. It certainly was true last year wasn’t it? Pirate fans preached it over and over again. So, let’s take a look at how these three players are doing this year.
