Swab the Dump: Pirates Take2; Kimbo Slice and Some Babe in a Cowboy Stadium Bathroom Stall Go Down

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

“We’re just not winning ballgames but it’s not for a lack of effort. I can tell you for a fact that we’re working harder than any team in the major leagues.” – LF Lastings Milledge, disputing the idea the Pirates have quit during the latter stages of the season as they have lost 23 of their last 27 games.  Lastings had no comment on the ten pounds he has lost playing Varsho D. In case you are watching network TV, Charlie Morton threw a complete game shutout in game one.  The Pirate offense was led by Ryan Doumit’s 4-for-4, 4RBI night [...]

Pirates Front Office Needs a Closer

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Put the coffee down Neil Huntington.  Coffee is for closers.  The one closer in the Sano Saga was Dejan of the PG.  Good Lord have mercy.  The beat writer told the GM that the Twins signed Sano. Forgive me if you haven’t heard about the Sano saga.  We are moving forward with the assumption you know the story.  Here are some of the exerpts from the fine work done by Dejan at the PG: So Rob Plummer, Sano’s agent ”respected” the Twins so much that he wouldn’t accept more cash, say $3.5m from the Pirates rather than the $3.1m from [...]

Pirates Make Brilliant Move

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The story officially broke last night from the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. We had been talking about it all season long.  The tenth overall pick in the 1974 draft,  Joe Kerrigan, will return to the Pirates in 2010.  Kerrigan told Dejan in the PG, “I really enjoyed it, as much as I have any season in baseball.” But the brilliant news was what the Rum Bunter team was screaming to have resolved all season.  A second pitching coach will be added to the staff.  (Rich Donnelly will not return)

Big Ben Roethlisberger Can Host WWE Raw and Your QB Can’t

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ben’s Cardinal Butchers after Flacco was choked out in the AFC Championship Steeler fans can’t imagine Big Ben Roethlisberger doing anything other than leading the Steelers to championships.  One has to admit that he is quite spectacular at the Super Bowl thing, but even Big Ben needs a moment away from football.   However just the thought that he would travel to do a WWE show in Wilkes Barre, rather than preparing for the red-hot Detroit Lions has many Steeler fans losing their minds. And the rest of the NFL fans are scratching their heads because your QB is just too….well, you know [...]

Freddy Sanchez: Thanks for Eliminating Pittsburgh from Your List

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Freddy Sanchez spoke in the San Jose Mercury-News that he will go into free agency this winter. The Giants won’t go anywhere near his club option of $8.1 million for next season, despite Sanchez playing well for the team.  Sanchez will have season ending knee surgery next week.  Sanchez twisted his knee Tuesday against the DBacks  and had an eight game hitting streak before the injury.  Sanchez apparently has offers just flying in from teams all throughout MLB because he has already eliminated one team from the running.  Are you curious the one place he won’t return? Where he always wanted [...]

The Dreaded Pirates Eighth Inning Curse Continues, Outscored 95-49 in the Eighth…and Counting

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

One night after the Pirates bullpen were heroes, tonight they were goats.  In the eighth inning, the Pirates bullpen gave the game to the Dodgers.  Five walks were the culprit.  Steven Jackson was the unlikely gas thrower. This season the Pirates have been outscored in the eighth inning 95 to 49.  The ineffectiveness of John Grabow early in the season combined with the utter failure of the bullpen to pitch with confidence down the stretch has been a major factor in the nightly outcome this season. Especially in the eighth. Has anyone noticed the bottom falls out with key situational plays from [...]

Quick Dump: Kimbo Gets His Gun? Mark Madden Video King! Look Out Max Starks!

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Cincy player that all of us will be looking out for is on the defense. His name….Odom. He gained thirty pounds in the offseason.  That’s a LOT of Peanut Butter and Jelly every night.  Seven Sacks for Odom.  Two Sacks for Steelers (the team)[So About this Antwan Odom Guy. DC Steeler Nation] So the other Odom, Lamar, is marrying Khloe Kardashian.  They had a bacherlor/bacherlotte party ( together.)  Weak.   Lamar is skipping his stag party?  He is going to STK?   My wife and I saw the Kardashian’s there back in January. Sure it’s a great steakhouse.  Cool place, but that is [...]

Japanese PM Yukio Hatoyama, Five Pirate Bullpen Arms Shut Down LA 3-1

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pittsburgh Pirates rule the universe.  The Bucs kept the LA Dodgers from earning a playoff spot.  Well the Dodgers had much to do with it as they gave the Bucs three unearned runs when they couldn’t turn double plays. Flashes of play like this keep 20,000 coming to the park.  It keeps us watching and gives a glimmer of hope for next season.  The Pirates are going to be contenders.  Well, maybe not, but they certainly aren’t as bad as they have been playing. This guy at TrueBlueLA was blue about it. Every Pirate had a hit with the [...]
