The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept by the Reds.  Lastings Milledge prevented the shutout with a homerun to set the final score at 4-1. The Pirates didn’t go away easy in the ninth inning however.   The Bucs got a few baserunners against Francisco Cordero after Garrett Jones worked a leadoff walk, a liner was speared by Cordero and turned into a double play.  Brandon Moss followed with a single and pinch hitter Ryan Doumit also singled.  Jason Jaramillo made sure the Pirates were off the field before Obama arrived in town with a check swing strikeout to strand the runners and complete the [...]

The worst team in Pirates franchise history has come back from the dead. The Pittsburg Alleghenies. Or is this current team the worst in franchise history? The Pirates lost 12-2 last night. Surely, it’s a bad, bad dream. And I can’t take my eyes off of it. Maybe I am the sick one? There is a video below…well there should be, if the zombies didn’t break into your computer too…  

The Pittsburgh Pirates had a great start to the game against division foe Cincinnatti when rookie Andrew McCutchen drilled his 12th homer of the year, his fourth lead off homer, into the left field seats.  The lead and the mood seemed to be changing for the New Bucs. The Pittsburgh Pirates aren’t very good.  You know that.  San Diego took three of four games from the Bucs in the series. Ross Ohlendorf finished his season by throwing seven innings with five strikeouts and allowed only one earned run. Could you imagine the Pirates without Ohlendorf in the rotation?  His last ten starts Ross had a 2.77 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.  His time spent in the Yankees organization and his familarity with Kerrigan surely helped, but Ross certainly worked hard on improving and became one of the Pirates most improved players this season. The Pittsburgh Pirates took the day off and we have two great stories.  Lynchburg captures the title and Pedro goes off.  What a great day for Pirates fans everywhere. The Pirates lost yesterday to the Dodgers 3-1.  Nothing more, nothing less than the headline needs to be said. We can review statistics, OPS, slugging, but really….Buccos, just hit the damn ball. The last 13 Pirates batters went without a hit.  That won’t cut it.  Ever.

The Pirates took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning last night.  Matt Capps, looking for his 26th save, was on the mound to face the 2-3-4 hitters in the Dodgers lineup.  Russell Martin, the Dodgers catcher, popped up to LaRoche.  One out.
