The Pirates sent out some slick documents today. The blueprint drawings each reflect a different aspect of the overhaul of the Pirates organization. In whole, the documents summarize the “significant progress made in building a winning organization.” The link below takes you to the Pirates site to check it out for yourself. http://pirates.mlb.com/pit/downloads/y2010/blueprint/blueprint.pdf
McCutchen Named Rookie of the Year by Baseball America
Of course he was. Andrew McCutchen knew it before Baseball America did. Now get back to work and Andrew will get back to being the greatest player in the universe.
Pirates recently promoted Ray Searage to the big club after seven years in the minors. Searage is the Pitching Coach for Navegantes del Magallanes which is managed by Carlos Garcia. Searage has the team at the top of the league with a 3.37 ERA after 15 games. The staff also leads the league in strikeouts with 116 against 50 walks. [MLB-Caribbean] Pirates OF prospect Gorkys Hernandez is hitting 343 with an 865 OPS for Caribes de Anzoategui in Caribbean Baseball. Pirates = Where The Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are. Theatrical trailer. @ Yahoo! Video I think the Pirate organization reminds me a lot of Where the Wild Things Are, the raw new movie from Spike Jonze based on the 1963 Caldecott Medal (means it is great) winning book by Maurice Sendak. We loved that book when we were kids didn’t we? Sorta like we loved the Pirates. The book was ten sentences. Classic. Always great. Sort of like our old Bucs. The movie lasts forever. You know forever very well, because 17 years sure does feel like forever. Max played by Pirates GM Neal Huntington. He [...]
Tabata and Watson Hot, Moskos Not
In Arizona Fall League action, Pirates OF Jose Tabata [AFL page] had two hits in five at bats, raising his season average to .333, while serving as the DH for the Scottsdale Scorpions last night. Pirates pitcher Danny Moskos [AFL page] was touched up for three hits, two runs and a walk in one inning of work. Moskos still struck out the side as the Scorpions lost 7-3. Moskos does have eight strikeouts in six innings pitch in the AFL. A pitcher who keeps impressing is 6’4″ LHP Tony Watson[AFL page] who threw an inning of hitless relief in the loss [...]
Weekend Dump: Raiders Pigeon Was Cooper? LT on the Vikes
Andrew McCutchen is getting tired of Chuck Norris and his endless texts asking him for help. LT says the Vikings are like an Army. (He didn’t specify which Army, just ”like an Army.”) We need you to be big Sunday 94. [Lawrence Timmons94]
Jose Tabata, Brian Friday and Neil Walker Updates
Jose Tabata is hitting .333 with 2 triples and a double in 24 at bats for the Scorpions. He has 4 RBI in six games and his OPS is .970.
Dominant Donnie Veal? Dink Dunk Vikings Sunk, Cuban Clears the Air Quickly on Pirates. Sigh.
Mark Cuban. We can only dream. Why wouldn’t he want to buy the Pirates? Sure he tried. “No, I’m not buying the Pittsburgh Pirates,” he said. “I tried. [It's] not going to happen. We’ll leave it at that.” It’s a freaking cash cow. Come on. It’s not happening for a reason. _______________________________________________________ PHOTO CREDIT HERE. Donnie Veal and Tony Watson Donnie Veal is dominating in the Arizona Fall League. Hell, Veal has stats better than Strasburg! The Nats are getting ripped off. Just wanted to get that sentence up quickly. A rotation with Donnie Veal. Hell, everyone knows the kid has [...]
