Neil Walker Off to a Quick Start in Venezuela; Arizona Fall League Throws Out First Pitch Tomorrow

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Neil Walker has quickly shown he didn’t come all the way to Venezuela to look at the scenery.  Walker has at least one hit in each of the first three games since play began on Friday.   Walker is playing for Bravos de Margarita (hell, let’s drink to that team name!) has four hits in eleven at bats, a walk and an RBI.  Three of Walker’s hits were doubles.  He has also walked twice and scored three runs. You can follow Walker’s progress at this site.  [MLB] Other Pirates in the Venezulean League assigned to the Bravos de Margarita Club  include  [...]

FEAR 2. Pirates 2010 Fan Guide

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 2010 Pirates Fan Guide continues today with the major question marks in the infield. 1. What if Pedro Alvarez doesn’t have the immediate impact we all wish for? 2. Andy LaRoche moving to second base is a logical move.  But when does the move happen–mid season?  Or does he start the season at second?  Surely not?  The impact could leave the third base job up for grabs, but to whom?   And where does Delwyn Young go? 3.  Having third base filled by the likes of Neil Walker or Ramon Vazquez for half a season is scary. 4.  Is Ronny Cedeno the [...]

You Know Why Chuck Norris Has Never Been to PNC Park? His Utter Fear of Andrew McCutchen That’s Why!

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Andrew McCutchen is the “Rookie” of the Year.  Seriously, I prefer most McAwesome Player in the Galaxy.  (The Galaxy that we know of, Cutch knows many that aren’t discovered yet) Ladies and Gentlemen, he put up those numbers in half a season.  He did it just because he didn’t want to show up the ”rookies.”   PS.  It’s official.  Bud called and said MLB will be changing the name of this year’s award

John Perrotto Fired. Here is Our Opinion Why.

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Veteran Pirate writer John Perrotto was fired yesterday.  The man was a very solid reporter who tried his best in the past year of covering the Pittsburgh Pirates  to tell it like it was, yet, but, heh….. Ogden Enterprises does ultimately sign the check.   Many can look at some of the truth that Perrotto wrote in his articles as hard for ownership to swallow.  So they canned him.  Sure that is one way to take it. But not ours.  Perrotto sure did kiss tail with Nutting in the article below. The team at Rum Bunter can only look at this [...]

FEAR. The 2010 Pirates Fans Guide.

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

FEAR.  We talked about the HOPE the Pittsburgh Pirates have for 2010 and beyond, now it’s time to discuss FEAR.   The fear that surrounds all Pirate fans when we consider the fate of the 2010 team as we look at it today. Yeh, there are many starting positions wide open, I mean as glaring as the stab wounds in the body of a Jason Voorhes victim. The 2009 Pirates teased us a little bit, sorta like that hot person you were attracted to in college or at Summer Camp on the Lake.  They gave you just enough openings to make you think you had a [...]

McCutchen Named Best Rookie by FanGraphs.com

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The National League Best Rookie was the Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen according to Dave Cameron at Fan Graphs.  The statistic site is well respected around the league.  It should be interesting to see if GFJ and Cutch cancel each other out of the balloting for ROY.  We have a poll up so cast your vote for ROY, Andrew McCutchen or Garrett Jones.  Really?  Ok, I put an other tab on it as well.   (UPDATE, unfortunately since the site is driving hits this month, I believe we have an ad covering it up. So, leave a comment)
