Pirates Free Agency: Huntington Plays Poker With Boras

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the movie “Rounders,” Matt Damon said, “Why do you think the same six guys end up at the final table at the World Series of Poker each year?  Are they the luckiest guys in Las Vegas?  No.  It’s because they have skills.” Major League Baseball’s World Series of Poker is here.  It is called free agent season. If a GM can play their hand right, a few players can vault a team to the next level.  If a GM makes the wrong decision, you can end up like the legendary poker superstar Stu Ungar.  Out of the game entirely. Pirate fans will be [...]

Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman? Steeler QB’s? Gulp. (Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pittsburgh Steelers are trying out veteran QB’s Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman in the South Side facilities this week. Gulp.  Both are veteran journeyman.  Ramsey recently played for the Titans and Bouman for the Jaguars.   Bouman was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 1997.  Yeh, he’s up there.  He played college ball at St. Cloud State. Bouman also played for the hold your breath now, Saints, Packers, Rams, Ravens.  He was a backup to Aaron Brooks and then was released in favor of Jamie Martin.  He then became Mr. Insurance policy as he was signed by the Jags [...]

What Would a Pirate Fan Have To Be Thankful For?

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pittsburgh Pirates aren’t exactly deserving of a fans thankfulness.  The team that got out talented on virtually a daily basis in 2009 surely doesn’t expect some fans to thank them do they?  Well, Rum Bunter is thankful crew.  Yeh, we said it.  This morning I went over to the Pirates site to read the Thanksgiving message from Pirates owner Bob Nutting, but it apparently hasn’t be posted yet.  So anyway, I did find an interesting article by Jenifer Langosch about the Pirates Dominican Academy educating the players on the Thanksgiving holiday as a way to introduce US culture.  But [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Rocky Boiman is a Super Bowl winner. He is now a Pittsburgh Steeler. Heh, along with Corey Ivy, another Super Bowl winner and video highlight specialist, the Steelers have solved their special teams challenges. Next! Pay no attention to Paneech saying the Steelers won’t make the Playoffs.  After all it’s the same guy that predicted this , ”mark my words, (Lastings) Milledge will be cut by year’s end.”

Corey Ivy Decked By Limas Sweed. (Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Corey Ivy, Corey Ivy…that name rings a bell. Oh yes.  That Corey Ivy. It was last year in the AFC Championship Game at Heinz Field. Limas Sweed had dropped the touchdown pass. Got hurt. Bruised his ego. Hines Ward limped out on the field and provided some words of wisdom. And then Sweed did this….  Wes Welker takes his turn on Ivy in this video…
