Bradenton Tries to Find a Name for Class A Franchise

Bradenton is buzzing about their new Class A team.  The Bradenton Herald is running a story about what goes into a professional sports teams name, specifically some history on the Pirates is discussed. There is also a poll with suggestions for the teams new name.  Let’s check it out.  After all, today is Election Day and what else is there to do until spring training? Pirates Donnie Veal is AFL Pitcher of the Week

From the Arizona Fall League, Pirate lefthander Donnie Veal went 1–0 with a 0.00 ERA during the Arizona Fall League last week and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week.  In two starts with the Scottsdale Scorpions, he surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters in 7.2 innings of work.   Donnie currently leads Fall League starters with a 0.71 earned-run average (12.2ip/1er), while ranking fifth overall in that department.  He is also tied for the league lead with two wins, ranks second in opponent batting average (.159) and third in WHIP (0.71).  In case [...]

Stewardess Brad Childress: Fly the Hairy Skies

Check this out over at Deadspin via Visanthe Shiancoe’s Twitter account , the week long rumor is true.  Vikings Coach Brad Childress had an early Halloween.  He did dress like a stewardess for the Vikes flight to Steeler Country.
