The Return of the Rubber Band Man?

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Chris Disco Hayes is a great baseball story.  Since you’re obviously a baseball fan and not a fan of accounting and all the other garbage stories circulating around the City of Champions, we went to work on a potential, but very unlikely Rule 5 selection the Pirates could make.    The Pirates opened another roster spot, by smartly allowing Jeff Sues go and he cleared waivers.  A move is definently in the works today and I don’t think you will be crazy about it.   Hayes was a walk on college catcher who moved to a closer role at Northwestern.   Chris Hayes has the [...]

A-Rod to the Pirates? Not That One…

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Rule 5 will be interesting for the Pirates.  Take a more proven player who could assist in the bullpen this year?  Or take a player that can be hidden all season and not be forced into much action?  If the Pirates go with the younger option check this guy out,  could he be Mr. Upside? Aneury Rodriguez was picked up by Tampa Bay from Colorado last March in the Jason Hammels deal.   He will turn 22 this year.  He was signed by the Rockies when he was 17 years of age. The Rays are rolling the dice that Rodriguez is young enough that [...]

The Next Pittsburgh Pirate?

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pay close attention to the Rule 5 draft on December 10, Rum Bunter thinks it will be an indication of just what the Pirates think of the roster this season. Take an unproven pitcher and we believe the Bucs are truly thinking the roster is still down the road.  But if the Pirates take someone closer to the bigs, perhaps the player we discuss below, well….just maybe the organization believes what it is spinning. Yohan Pino makes Joe Kerrigan drool.  This RHP Cleveland Indian farm product has a great strikeout to walk ratio.  Pino is 6’3″ and was a Twins pick up [...]

Mangino, Weis Fired. Is Friedgen Next?

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Charlie Weis fired from Notre Dame.  Mark Mangino gone at Kansas.  So is Maryland ball coach Ralph Friedgen the next of the big boys to go?  I am noticing a trend here. The man has certainly stretched the Under Armour

Kimbo Slice is Back (Again)

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kimbo Slice will be back in the cage tomorrow night.  Sound familar? Houston Alexander will be the opponent standing in front of Kimbo. “My style is pretty much the same. I’ve developed a little ground here and there , which I don’t like to use in a fight. I like to stand up, knock a guy out, or get knocked out,” Kimbo said in a conference call from Las Vegas Thursday. “Wherever it goes, it goes. From the cage, to the street, in the hotel, it’s whatever man, I came here to fight.” Not sure if the Palms will have [...]

Why We Love Jesper Parnevik. It Has Nothing To Do With Elin’s Twin

AUTHOR: | IN: Pittsburgh Pirates | COMMENTS: None Yet

Jesper Parnevik has long been admired by the fans of Rum Bunter.  Yesterday, he moved from admired to loved.  For life.  Even if he didn’t introduce us to Elin.   If you don’t know much about Jesper here are few quick facts:   He speaks what is on his mind.    Yeh, he said that.  The guy gives SNL Deep Thoughts a run for their money. Jesper also threw out this quote about Tiger.  “I would probably need to apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of a 3-iron,” Parnevik said, adding that he has not spoken [...]
