Huntington Finds Starting Pitching for Pirates

We had a hunch Neal Huntington was shopping for pitching.  It was proven today.  Huntington went out and got a left handed starter that Jays Journal said was a bird killer.  The

Pirates announced the signing of Dana Eveland from Toronto in exchange for Ronald Uviedo.

Eveland is 26 years old and was 3-4 with a 6.45ERA with the Blue Jays.    Mat at Jays Journal said this about Eveland:

"If there was any chance that Alex Anthopolous could get Dana Eveland traded to the DBacks this season, possibly along with a reliever, for a substantial return, it was killed yesterday after a lousy outing by the big guy. He killed both his chances of remaining in the rotation much longer and his trade value with 1 game, although one could argue that his last few outings haven’t been impressive enough to get much in trade anyhow."

All of Eveland’s starts are detailed by Mat in this link.

Ronald Uviedo served as the closer for the Lynchburg Hillcats in their championship series last season.   BuccoFans has all of the Uviedo details in his excellent player pages.
