Cards at Pirates: Struggling Maholm, Bucs Look To Blast Cardinals

In the past 13 games at PNC Park, Pedro Alvarez has 14 hits with three homeruns

.

Lastings Milledge has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 starts.  He is 56-for-193 since June 1 which trails only Jose Tabata (.306).

Chris Resop has an ERA of 1.08ERA in his nine appearance since joining the Bucs.

Paul Maholm has lost five of his last six games and has posted an 8.07 ERA over that stretch.  Maholm gave up four runs in the sixth inning last Thursday after not allowing a run in the first five innings.

Spoiler Alert:  It should be easy stuff for the Pirates tonight against Adam Wainwright who is looking for win number 18.  Meaningless stat.  Supposedly, this guy has the lowest ERA in the majors.  Yeh, until tonight.  It’s too bad we only have eight games left against the Cards.  GO BUCS.

Nugget:  Do you think Andrew McCutchen should earn more walks, step into more pitches, steal more bases, and generally do anything to reach base and score more runs?    Of course you do, because you are intelligent.  We can back it up with this fact we found on the Bucs site—since he debuted, when  McCutchen scores more than two runs, the Pirates are 25-5.

So Ohlendorf thinks he is done for the year.  Nice.  Sleeping at the wheel once again and it sucks.
