Pirates Not Mystery Team, Reports Have Webb Linked To Reds

Reports circulating

today are saying that the  NL Central “mystery team” involved in discussions with Brandon Webb is indeed the Reds who employ Bryan Price who was with the Diamondbacks for much of Webb’s career as a snake.

According to FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal, free agent starter Brandon Webb will likely decide between the Rangers and the Reds.

"Our NL Central “mystery team” has been identified. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported last week that the Reds hadn’t spoken with Webb recently, but the club has apparently emerged as a Webb finalist."

As Pirates fans, we knew that if the Pirates were indeed in the mix for Webb, we would be hearing all about it.  The Bucs have proven that they are not very good at keeping such moves in house.

Now it appears that the only mystery left is the amount of money Webb will be getting from the Rangers or Reds.

UPDATE:  AOL’s Ed Price tweet says the Rangers are the team to have landed Webb.  The physical will be a major area of interest this week.  Remember Sheets?
