Keep Calm Pirates Fans Bixler Is In Red, White, And Blue

The Confusing Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals series is set to begin in a few hours.  UPDATE:  Rainout tonight-rescheduled Monday.

The Pirates AC/DC offensive doesn’t remind anyone of a juggernaut, but has shown that they are able to get hits in bunches.  Just not very often.

Sort of like the Washington Nationals who roll into Buc Town with a .500 record despite hitting just .218.

The Pirates are familar with being shutout this season and Livian Hernandez has been dirty this season.  Jeff Karstens is back on the bump for the Bucs after giving up five runs while just getting 13 outs against the Reds.   Hernandez has allowed just one run to win each of his last two starts.

Looks like a no brainer right?  But Hernandez sucks at PNC Park with a 6 plus ERA.

The Nats were held to just two singles in getting shutout last night to the Cardinals.   But the Pirates have been the Nats third-world nation recently.  Whipping them as they won five of the past six against the Bucs.  The Nats are also putting up their best offensive numbers against any opponent in doing so.

It all makes little sense if you are looking for an edge for the Pirates. But either does seeing Brandon Wood in black and gold this weekend.  Wood will be the new utility infielder for the Bucs. As we suggested, the evaluators felt Josh Rodriguez wasn’t the answer. Pedro Ciriaco is up with the club tonight.

And get this Brian Bixler is in the Nats dugout. Hell, maybe it’s not as bad as we thought.
