Pirates Kevin Correia Looks To Continue Riding Hot Wave Versus Cubs

Doug Davis goes

against the Pittsburgh Pirates today. Davis has held each of the following Pirates to less than two hits over his career: Garrett Jones and Matt Diaz are a combined 2-for-19 while Ronny Cedeno and Ryan Doumit have combined for two hits a piece in 29 AB.

Look for Steve Pearce to be in Clint Hurdle’s lineup today.   Matt Diaz has just six hits against left handers in 36 at-bats this season.  Doumit and Chris Snyder have both hit lefties well this season.  Doumit is 6-for-18, Snyder is 6-for-19.

Kevin Correia has been good on the road, better against the Cubs. In Correia’s last 18.0 IP, he has a 1.00 ERA against the Cubs. Allowing just two earned runs in those games would be just bodacious today.  In 2011,  Correia has a 6-4 record in 11 starts to go with a 3.84 ERA.

One stick Correia will need to be careful with today is white-hot Carlos Pena. No bombs please, Kevin.

In the season opener in Wrigley, Correia kept the Cubs at bay giving up three runs over six as the Pirates won 6-3. In five starts Correia is a sparkling 2-0 against the Cubbies.

Only the Brewers have roughed up the Pirates right hander on the road this season. The Bucs will cruise into Wrigley to face the Cubs’ scorching bats as they put up 24 against the M-E-T-S Mets of New. York. Town.

Some offense by the Bucs…that would be a great thing. They say it’s contagious, right?
