Pirates Morton To Face Mets Lineup Without Reyes, Bay

A couple of quick

notes before the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the New York Mets tonight.  Jose Reyes has left the team after his grandmother passed away.   Reyes is hitting .398 at CitiField.  Reyes will be gone for the entire series.

Jason Bay will also be out of the lineup tonight for Terry Collins’ Mets as he rests his leg.  it’s not surprising as the Mets loaded up with lefties.

Left handed hitters are hitting Charlie Morton quite well this season.  While right handers struggle at a .170 average, lefties rock a .341 BA.   The only right handed hitters are Justin Turner, Ruben Tejada and pitcher Dillon Gee.

The Pirates are 12-12 in May.  It would be nice to grab a couple of wins to close out the month wouldn’t it?

The Pirates have officially recalled Dusty Brown and Josh Harrison as we discussed last night.

Hurdle called Harrison a “bat handler with a lot of energy.  Third, second, short in that order if you were going to seat him defensively.”
