Pirates Jeff Karstens Key To Another Series Win

Pittsburgh Pirates starter Jeff Karstens

continues to impress the hell out of us.   Look what Karstens has done in the month of June.

34.1 innings pitched.

5 earned runs.

1.31 ERA

Two of those earned runs came on Saturday night via solo homers.  If only Clint Hurdle could have heard everyone screaming at their TV to get Karstens out of the game.  But still, Karstens is in some nice company with his impressive month of June.

With the Bucs playing so many close games lately, another fine pitching performance will be necessary tonight in Canada.

We love the Pirates chances against Brett Cecil.

The left-handed Cecil went 15-7 with a 4.22 ERA last season.  He had a rough first four starts this year allowing almost seven runs per game.

The Jays sent him to AAA Vegas.  (Tough duty)

He wasn’t exactly impressive in Sin City and gave up almost six runs per game.  Look for the Bucs to put up some runs tonight as the Zombie does just enough to get the Bucs out of Canada as series winners.

Matt Diaz has seven hits in his last 14 at-bats against lefties.

Ronny Cedeno is batting .500 since June 19.  He has three doubles bringing his average up 30 points in just nine days.  And we hope your sitting down, Cedeno has four walks over that time.
