The Pittsburgh Pirates continue looking for a deal as the trade deadline looms.
Today Troy Renck writes that the Pirates are interested in Ty Wigginton. He also mentions that he isn’t sure if the Bucs have interest in Jason Giambi.
You might not be thrilled with having Wigginton in the Pirates lineup, but he does have a weighted batting average of .340 which puts him in the middle of the pack in potentially available talent. (Carlos Pena is at .339, Carlso Beltran has a .394)
No wonder Huntington doesn’t want to overpay at the deadline.
Also, Joel Sherman mentions the Bucs have called on BJ Upton as well. Upton could be the ideal Huntington buy low candidates.
