Pittsburgh Pirates See the Return of Electric Stuff, Brewers Hit Road

Charlie Morton

knew the Pittsburgh Pirates needed a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs.  Morton gave it to his teammates.

Morton fired seven shutout innings and struckout seven Cubs.  The frustrating part was the Pirates offense couldn’t muster a run and fell 1-0.  (Derrek Lee said he thinks the young team is pressing)   A solo bomb by Starlin Castro off Chris Resop was the difference.

If the Pirates can get a strong Charlie Morton down the stretch, the teams chances just increased 20 percent.  Morton has a 1.97ERA against the NL Central.   The Pirates need to control what they can control and start winning games once again.

It’s our role to take a look around, and here you go.  Just look at what is coming up for the Brew Crew.   The Brewers won yesterday 10-5.   They are rolling under the remote control lights of Miller Park, but take this nugget with you today.  The Brewers suck on the road, right?  The NL Central leaders have 12 of their next 19 games away from home.

The Brewers go to Houston for three against the Astros and to St. Louis for three.  The Pirates roll into Milwaukee next weekend for three crucial games.  The Brewers host the Dodgers for four games, before hitting the road for three in New York and here in Pittsburgh for three.

Season over for the Bucs?  Hardly.   They control their fate and a win against those Cubs tonight will be a great start.
