Pirates Sweep of Cardinals Would Be Fitting

After 121 games in the 2011 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates have 18 more victories than last season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates were supposed to be fading away.  After a tough weekend in Milwaukee the Pirates were supposed to die.

It was over.  What some have described as the Milwauklypse was just too much to overcome.  The injuries were just too much for a team with little depth.  Regression had set in.  These rookies just can’t be expected to keep on winning.  The pitching staff can’t keep pitching over their heads.

Right?

The Pirates have said wrong.   And after giving the Cards their eleventh walkoff loss of the year, the Bucs are 58-63.  Just twelve months ago the team was 40-81.
