trying to bring you the Neal Huntington Show in one form or the other. Today’s show moved quickly, consise questions from Greg Brown and direct, open answers from the Pittsburgh Pirates GM Neal Huntington.

Neal spoke in terms of the risk that the Pirates took by signing OF Jose Tabata. He acknowledged it and did a nice sales job in case Tabata’s new agent was listening in to the show.

The most interesting thing was that there is a possibility that 1st overall pick Gerrit Cole could play in the Arizona Fall League. Although Huntington said, “there is nothing set in stone.”  Huntington didn’t hold back in his frustration of the signing date and the need for the system to be fixed.  “We lost an entire year of development with Cole.”   The main point was the number of pitches the Pirates will have to build off of coming out of college for Cole.  He doesn’t want to increase the work load of innings too dramatically because history tells the team that it isn’t wise.
