Pittsburgh Pirates Caffeine: McCutchen Won’t Break, Return of Pedro, Von Rosenberg Perfect

facebooktwitterreddit

Andrew McCutchen

is day-to-day after getting hit with yet another pitch, this one delivered by Ryan Dempster, that was up and in. Pitchers are regularly pitching the Pirates star inside at least once per at-bat, to set up breaking pitches away that have proved to be the out pitch in the McCutchen book.

Brian Burres and the bullpen amazed us yesterday. Burres tallied five strikeouts and the Pirates bullpen matched it.

Josh Harrison’s heads up base running looked like me on the softball diamond.

How about Alex Presley?  Three more hits, two triples, two runs, and a walk.

Hanranator with his 33rd save.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the way, we love the Pirates today in Wrigley.
Looking at the past ten games Pedro Alvarez has played is frightening. Clint Hurdle said without saying yesterday that Pedro will be getting called up after Indy completes their season.
When/if you look at the numbers on Alvarez below, look at how he has fared against left handers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Zach Von Rosenberg was perfect for six. A no-hitter was a strike away.

Baseball Gods are mothers.

If you listened to our podcast you probably heard Wilber Miller talk about ZVR, so when we heard this news on twitter, it further validated the power of WTM. Guy knows his shit.
