That means thirteen years, 364 days since being in first place. For me, realistic expectations were for the Buccos to sniff first place this year. Accomplished. The Pirates are still a 4- cylinder engine, that simply cannot run the entire race with the bigger 6's and 8's. However, we have a solid block and a good mechanic who had the motor fine tuned until the inevitable break downs. We need one or two dominating pitchers to enhance a very capable staff, and one or 2 heavy bats to increase the chances of a win in games when the pitching is a little sour or the opposition happens to score alot of runs that day.
