The Pittsburgh Pirates increased their TV ratings nearly 50 percent in 2011. It’s not surprising to think the Bucs would see an uptick in their numbers, but being the third largest increase was something we didn’t see coming.
Of course the Pirates were beat by Milwaukee who jumped their ratings 59 percent as they went on to win the NL Central Division. The Cleveland Indians saw a 109 percent increase.
I might be mistaken because I don’t believe any Pittsburgh media outlet covered it, but the bad news is the Pirates signed a new TV deal last year. We think the organization could have received an even bigger check after pumping out these numbers.
But heh, at least the Pirates are starting to gain relevance again.
