Pirates Robbie Grossman Passes the 2007 AFL Numbers of Andrew McCutchen

Robbie Grossman has been a big hit in the AFL

Robbie Grossman keeps rolling along. The on base machine started the game off today against Peoria with a leadoff double against Brewers right-handed pitcher Cody Scarpetta.

The Mesa Solar Sox rolled to a 10-3 victory. Grossman also walked twice in the game. We thought he might fade away after such a hot start and an 0-for four on Thursday. But taking a closer look, Grossman has 14 hits in his past ten games and an OPS of 1.117.

Looking at Grossman now with 77 at-bats and 29 hits is impressive. Just how impressive?

Back in 2007, a Pittsburgh Pirates prospect named Andrew McCutchen had 28 hits in 98 at-bats. Cutch had no homers, two triples, and five doubles.  His OPS was .758.

Heh, just sayin.
