Bedard and Cruz did an excellent job. Resop got into trouble, but gets some credit for pitching his way out of it. Kind of ridiculous that Bedard gets the loss for that one.   The sooner the offense can get a few hits, the better. They don’t want to go into a slump against the teams they’ll be facing, as you point out there’s no time to ease into things. Lose a bunch of games in April and it might not kill the long-run chances, but it’ll hurt fans’ perceptions. Overall, a quick pitchers’ duel it and an excellent ballgame.
