A day after getting a rousing ovation at PNC Park, the road back to the majors for A.J. Burnett included a stop in the high-A Florida State League. He started for the Bradenton Marauders. The Pirates right hander went 4.2 innings against the New York Mets affiliate, St. Luice.
Burnett gave up two hits, an earned run and walked one. His first three innings he faced the minimum with this action: three up, three down in the first inning with two strikeouts; in the second two popouts and a groundout; in the third he struckout one and got two groundouts.
We love it.
And the new Marauders hat isn’t bad either.
The Pirates placed Burnett on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 26, thus he would be eligible to be activated on April 10.
