Pirates OF Prospect Starling Marte Hit in Right Hand, Exits Game

Just what every Pittsburgh Pirates fan wanted to hear occurred today: some more bad news.  The extent of the injury to Starling Marte’s right hand isn’t known at this time, but it’s scary enough that we thought you should worry about it, too.

Marte has held his own in his first year at AAA.  He has twelve extra base hits, good for second in the entire Pirates system.

Yesterday he was batting against the Louisville Bats when he was hit on the right hand.  He left the game and will, at the very least, miss a few games.  Let’s trust that’s all it is.
