What a great post. I'm not a Bucs fan -- just over here trying to find out what the hell happened to Barajas, the ballast who threatens to ground my fantasy team -- but as a Phillies fan during the 80s and 90s, I feel your pain. It's like buying cheap tools at the dollar store because, hey, they're only a dollar! But the tools never work right (Greg Jeffries), even if they don't break the first time you use them (Danny Tartabull) and you wind up throwing them away and wishing you'd ponied up for Snap-On, or at least Craftsman. The dollar store approach of building a roster works out about once a generation, and then only if you're Billy Beane.
