Matt Hague is back in a Pittsburgh Pirates uniform tonight

Matt Hague Gets The Call, Nate McLouth DFA'd

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled Matt Hague. The Champ of Camp, or the Grapefruit League MVP as he is called in these parts will be back in black and gold tonight for the Bucs.

The much maligned Nate McLouth has been designated for assignment to make room for Hague. The Pirates signed McLouth in the offseason to an outlandish $1.75 million dollar contract. ( I wonder how many scouts Huntington could have hired for that cash?)  McLouth’s triple slash line looked more like collegiate wrestling weight classes than anything resembling offensive numbers: in 57 at-bats he put up 140/.210/.175

Hague is hitting .356 against left-handers, hence I would anticipate a start against Paul Maholm tomorrow.

Go get him champ.
