Pirates Get SS in Kevin Ross: Video & Scouting Reports

The Pittsburgh Pirates got a shortstop.  For now.

In the eighth round, the Bucs took 6’1″, 195 pound Kevin Ross with their eighth round (256) pick.

Baseball America had him as 225th best draft prospect.  The prep stud, hit .452 and put up a .753 slugging percentage. Scouts like the bat speed and see some plus power in his future along with a possible slide to third base.  He has a strong right arm and could handle third base.

The big upside with Ross is the projectable power bat, he would look really nice at short season State College, especially considering we are holding tickets for a few games.

“My dream is to play in the major leagues,” says Ross. “I’m going to do everything I can to get there.”
