Jeff Karstens Will Be Back in the Pittsburgh Pirates Rotation

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that Jeff Karstens will return to the starting rotation. We saw Karstens in the dugout at the game (where we snapped the picture above.)

Neal Huntington wouldn’t announce what exactly would happen with Karstens, and news just broke that the Bucs had sent Jordy Mercer down and recalled Bryan Morris, the hard throwing pitcher from AAA Indianapolis.

It would seem that Kevin Correia or Brad Lincoln would be the odd man out for the Pirates. Rumors were circulating yesterday the team was actively shopping Correia as they had been prior to the season.  Moving Correia would be a herculean effort on the part of Huntington.

UPDATE:  Karstens will start Monday’s series opener in Philadelphia, and Brad Lincoln will be moving back to the bullpen.
