Starling Marte Hitless, Rudy Owens Throws Scoreless Inning in AAA All-Star Game

The International League All-Stars lost to the Pacific Coast All-Stars last night, 3-0. The PCL had lost seven of the last nine ASG.  Starling Marte went hitless in his only at-bat. The Pirates stud prospect grounded out with two runners on base in the seventh inning.

Marte was on deck at the conclusion of the game.

Rudy Owens pitched one inning (replacing Zach Duke?), the fifth. Owens recorded a fly out, gave up a single, struckout Mike Hessman, allowed a walk, and then got MVP Wil Myers to fly out to end the inning.

Owens was the only IL pitcher to record an out against Myers of the Omaha Storm Chasers.  Myers went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to earn MLB.com’s ‘Star of Stars’ award.
