NY Times Takes Notice of Pittsburgh Pirates, Andrew McCutchen

Everyone is noticing the special season Andrew McCutchen is putting together in 2012,  but NY Times columnist Tyler Kepner took an interesting look into the thinking of Rod Sidwell, the man who loved what he saw of McCutchen at a very young age.

McCutchen and the Pirates open up a crucial road trip tonight in Houston.  The trip is their longest of the season, covering ten games. The Astros send 24-year old rookie lefty Dallas Keuchel to the hill.

Cutch has feasted on left handers this season, so tonight should be a fun time for the Bucs center fielder to pick up the pace on his MVP drive. In 88 at-bats against lefties this year,  Cutch has 39 hits – good for a Herculean .443 average, with six bombs.
