Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League Pitcher of the Year Kyle McPherson stormed onto the scene at Triple-A Indianapolis yesterday afternoon. The Bucs right hander struck out six and walked none.
McPherson went six innings and allowed just three singles. The only run came when Mac allowed a bunt single, was pulled from the game, and Daniel McCutchen gave up a double to right fielder Conor Jackson.
The double black belt has struck out 52 batters and walked just five in his 54.2 innings between Altoona and Indy this season. McPherson is a frequent RumBunter Podcast guest (he’ll be on our next episode, as a matter of fact!) and started the season battling arm issues. Seeing him storm onto the AAA scene gives some outside hope that he might make it to the bigs this season should he continue his solid pitching.
