Minor League Free Agent Pitchers Cause Pittsburgh Pirates Flashback

The Pittsburgh Pirates usually grab a few minor league free agents in the offseason. We wanted to get an early look at some of the 2013 candidates for you.

FanGraphs has compiled a look at both the hitters and pitchers that are available in a Gabriel Brothers-esque bargain bin this season in a post by Carson Cistulli . When we pulled up the list, immediately we got hit with a blast from the past.

Look at the names on this list:  Ryota Igarashi, who got a shot with the Bucs in spring training this season, is tops on the list.  Juan Perez is 33 years old, you might recall the lefty from his time with the Bucs back in 2006 and 2007.  Justin Thomas got hit around pretty good back in 2010 with the Pirates.

The name Dana Eveland still stings a little bit.  Garrett Olson reminds of us that left handers seem to last forever.    Ross Ohlendorf had a cup of coffee with the Padres this season and was rocked hard by the Buccos this year.

Rule 5 pick Evan Meek is on the list after being cut loose by the Pirates a couple years shy of an All-Star appearance.  Doug Slaten and Kip Wells push the Bucco factor of the list to an insane average.

We have to think you will be hearing from someone on the State of Minor League Free Agency list this season, the big question is who?
