Tony Sanchez catching in spring training.

Tony Sanchez left a strong impression on me at the Pittsburgh Pirates 2013 spring training in Bradenton, Florida.  In this interview with 93.7 The Fan it’s easy to tell that the Bucs first pick in the 2009 draft is never afraid to say what he feels.

When asked to describe which Pirates arm had the best stuff between Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon, he jokes ” I hope they aren’t listening.”

Sanchez talks about his below average speed.  He says he can however drive balls into the gap and hit an occassional home run.

As far as it relates to twitter, Sanchez says:

"“I am tweeting with two strikes.  I have to be careful with what I say.  People say what a loser I am, but I am out here with the big league guys.  I still love twitter, obviously.  It’s twitter.  You take it for what it is.  I like giving people an inside look at what I am doing with my life.  It’s what people like.I imposed the twitter sanctions on myself.  I have got to be careful.  I don’t like to tweet in a bad mood…..”"

Give it a listen, it’s damn good.
