Chase D’Arnaud seems to have a torn ligament in his left thumb, reports Rob Biertempfel:

You have to feel kind of bad for the guy, nobody should be wishing injuries on anybody, but this isn’t the absolute worst thing that could happen to the Pirates organization right now. D’arnaud wasn’t likely to earn a spot with the big league club out of camp anyways, but at least for now we can cross off his name from the list of players who are currently competing for the last few spots on the bench. D’arnaud has never before shown much ability to be a good bat off of the bench, and that really is a need for the Pirates now, and it will be interested to see who fills that role, as Spring Training is finishing up and we’re fast approaching opening day. Of course he has my sympathies, and I hope he gets better sooner rather than later.
