The Pittsburgh Pirates will workout at PNC Park next Sunday. It’s hard to believe when looking out of our windows today, but it’s true, Opening Day is fast approaching. The Pirates announced today that the team’s pre-Opening Day workout on Sunday, March 31 will be open to the public, free of charge.

Fans are being invited to observe the workout which is scheduled to be on the field from 1pm until 3pm. Fans are being instructed to enter the ballpark through the Legacy Square Gates in left field off General Robinson Street starting at 12:30pm.

The team will have section 1 to 138 accessible for fans to watch Pedro Alvarez and Andrew McCutchen rip bombs during batting practice. Clint Barmes and John McDonald will flash some leather during fielding drills. It’s always a good time, we like watching Jeff Banister hold four balls in his hands as he tosses BP. The concession stands behind section 115 will be open–presumably beer will be available?

Parking around the ballpark will be free in Lot Number Four along Mazeroski Way and Lot Number Six along General Robinson Street–directly across from PNC Park.

For all those people who can’t make Opening Day, it sounds like a fun way to spend your Easter Sunday. The Bucs opener is on Monday, April 1 at 1:35pm against the Cubs.
