Andrew McCutchen should be named the National League MVP this week and since he has mastered the baseball field and loves music, he is taking his talents to MTV.  McCutchen will be an executive producer with Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz on a 30-espisode series that is a collaboration between MTV Networks and Major League Baseball.

The show is expected to be on MTV2 and will begin this spring when the baseball season starts according to reports.

McCutchen has often visited the MLB Fan Cave when the Bucs are in New York and the show will be shot there.  The reports mention that the important job description for Cutch and Ortiz is selling involvement to big league players.  McCutchen was quoted on MLB saying that he jumped at the opportunity because music is a passion of his.

We don’t think that will be very hard for Cutch to do.  Major League Baseball is starting to realize that to remain relevant in the eyes of younger generations McCutchen is key.  From being the cover athlete to winning award after award for his on-field play to just carrying himself in a manner that young people can emulate, this is a smart choice for baseball and of course, MTV.

The MVP Award will give us something to look forward to this week, McCutchen’s work this offseason on his new project will be just one more thing to look forward to this coming season.

It can’t get here quickly enough.
