Francisco Liriano is on the mound for the Pirates against the Red Sox in Grapefruit League action.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lineup today looks a little bit more familiar as they face the Boston Red Sox.

Left fielder Starling Marte leads off and catcher Russell Martin is batting in the two hole again.  The NL MVP Andrew McCutchen bats third with Pedro Alvarez taking the designated hitter and cleanup duties today.

Neil Walker is back in the lineup after several days off in the five spot.  Travis Snider will get his first game action in right field while Andrew Lambo gets the start at first.   Robert Andino is showing off his ability to play all over the infield and will play third today for the Bucs.  Clint Barmes bats last and will play shortstop.

The Pirates send Francisco Liriano to the mound.

Brandon Workman the Texas University grad will pitch for the Red Sox.  Jake Peavy was scheduled to go but hurt his finger.

Workman had an incredible year in 2013.   The right hander started the year at Double-A Portland for the Sox and finished the year on the mound in the highest of leverage situations–the eighth inning of the World Series.

Workman was used extensively by the Red Sox and was impressive pitching 8.2 scoreless postseason innings.

You might recall Workman’s impressive debut in July ofno going into the seventh against the Oakland A’s.  Workman made  a couple more starts and then the Sox switched him to the bullpen where he was dominant during the World Series run.
