Pirates AFL Arizona Fall League. The Pittsburgh Pirates have some young talent on the Scottsdale Scorpions roster in the Arizona Fall League-last night the three players in the lineup were Tyler Glasnow, Elias Diaz and Josh Bell. Let’s start with the bad news.  Josh Bell went 0-4 for the Scorpions with two strikeouts.  The good news was Bell didn’t show any trouble with playing the new position of first base. Let’s continue with some more bad news.  Tyler Glasnow was staked to an early lead against Archie Bradley, but unfortunately couldn’t escape the first inning.  The right hander threw 29 pitches with 14 going for strikes.  He made an error and was pulled for Mets prospect Paul Sewald after striking out one, walking three and allowing a run.

The good news was Elias Diaz opened some eyes including those of Steve Berthiaume in the above tweet.  Berthiaume is the Arizona Diamondbacks broadcaster–yeah that team that the Bucs will play some really interesting early games against in 2015.  Diaz batted third and reached on an error and scored in the first, flew out to right, walked and scored, whiffed and singled in the ninth inning.  Diaz threw out a runner in the first inning to help Glasnow, and also gave up two stolen bases.

An interesting player to watch is Dan Gamache  The sixth rounder out of Auburn in 2011, walked and doubled for the Scorpions who won the game 7-4.
