Once a week I will be giving a Prospects roundup on Pittsburgh Pirate’s farm system.

I will mainly be posting their main stats for the season thus far.  This should allow you to have an easy and accessible page to view a prospects roundup and how they are doing.  With this being said I did kick off the Minor League Season with 4 articles covering the 4 main minor league teams in the Pirate organization.  I mentioned a lot of prospects in those articles, many of whom will be on this list.  I created this list after putting together a formula that consists of a number of stats, intangibles, and watching film on them. Their stats are based on their previous season performance and their career lines.  With that stats make up the bulk of how they are rated. Through this I put the prospects in a tiered system, but for these updates it will be easier to use the traditional 1-30 rankings.  Here is this weeks prospects roundup:

  1. RHP Tyler Glasnow, AAA: 1-1, 2.57 ERA, 30K/7BB, 4 starts
  2. 1b Josh Bell, AAA: .281 BA, 15 RBI, 3 homeruns .910 OPS

Prospects of the Week:  Jameson Taillon: 6 IP, 1 hit, 6 strikeouts, 0 walks, 0 runs

Josh Bell: 4/22 Hit for the Cycle, went 10/30 on the week with 6 RBI.

Mitch Keller: 5 IP, 2 hits, 10 strikes outs, 0 walks, 0 runs

One thing to keep in mind is that it is early in minor league schedule.  Some of these players have not seen consistent at-bats yet or have gotten off the abnormally slow/fast starts. It is a small sample size, but I wanted to get a template out of what I will be doing on a weekly basis for my prospects roundup.  There are not many free sites out there that can provide a full-page of the top prospects in the organization with their season stats listed in one spot.  Rather than trying to remember and search each individual player we will make it easier for you.   I will also be doing a weekly “Future Friday” article on specific prospects who are performing well.  Give comments below about the prospects roundup and your thoughts on how they are performing thus far.  You can also ask questions about specific prospects on the prospects roundup if you would like to know more about them.

I may change stats around for the prospects roundup once there is a bigger/consistent sample to pull from
