Pittsburgh Pirates Transactions: July 3-9

Prospects Tyler Glasnow and Josh Bell made their long awaited Major League debuts this past week. Read on for an overview of all transactions from the past week in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization:

July 3 – The Pirates designate Right Handed Relief Pitcher Rob Scahill for assignment.

July 3 – The Pirates sent Right Handed Relief Pitcher Curtis Partch outright to Indianapolis (AAA). Partch had previously been designated for assignment on June 26.

July 3 – The Pirates claimed Catcher Eric Fryer off of waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals

July 4 – Catcher Tomas Morales is assigned to Altoona (AA) from Indianapolis (AAA).

July 4 – Catcher Jin-De Jhang is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) from Altoona (AA).

July 4 – The Pirates placed Right Handed Pitcher Jameson Taillon on the 15-Day Disabled List retroactive to June 30 with Right Shoulder Fatigue.

July 4 – The Pirates activated Catcher Eric Fryer. They had previously claimed him off of waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

July 4 – The Pirates placed Catcher Chris Stewart on the 15-Day Disabled List retroactive to July 2 with Left Knee Discomfort.

July 4 – The Pirates sent Catcher Elias Diaz to Bradenton (A-Advanced) for a rehab assignment.

July 4 – The Pirates signed free agent Right Handed Pitcher Evan Piechota to a minor league contract.

July 5 – Right Handed Pitcher Clario Perez is released by Altoona (AA).

July 5 – Indianapolis placed Outfielder Austin Meadows on the 7-Day Disabled List retroactive to July 1 with a Strained Right Hamstring.

July 5 – Catcher Tomas Morales is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) from Altoona (AA).

July 5 – The Pirates sent Right Handed Pitcher Gerrit Cole to Indianapolis (AAA) for a rehab assignment.

July 5 – The Pirates designated Catcher Jacob Stallings for assignment.

July 5 – The Pirates signed free agents Right Handed Pitcher Chris McDonald, Shortstop Andrew Walker, and Catcher Miguel Perez to minor league contracts. Perez is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) and McDonald and Walker are assigned to GCL Pirates (Rookie).

July 5 – The Pirates selected the contract of Left Handed Pitcher Steven Brault from Indianapolis (AAA) and added him to the active roster.

July 6 – Catcher Tomas Morales is assigned to Altoona (AA) from Indianapolis (AAA).

July 6 – The Pirates optioned Left Handed Pitcher Steven Brault to Indianapolis (AAA).

July 6 – The Pirates sent Catcher Jacob Stallings outright to Indianapolis (AAA). Stallings had been previously designated for assignment on July 5.

July 6 – The Pirates recalled Left Handed Relief Pitcher Kyle Lobstein from Indianapolis (AAA).

July 7 – Indianapolis placed Catcher Miguel Perez on the 7-Day Disabled List with a strained right calf.

July 7 – The Pirates optioned Left Handed Relief Pitcher Kyle Lobstein to Indianapolis (AAA).

July 7 – The Pirates recalled Right Handed Pitcher Tyler Glasnow from Indianapolis (AAA).

July 8 – Indianapolis sent Right Handed Pitcher Nick Kingham to GCL Pirates (Rookie) for a rehab assignment.
