Tyler Glasnow looks to rebound this afternoon

At 2:20 PM this afternoon the Pittsburgh Pirates will go for a series victory over the Chicago Cubs. While looking to do so Clint Hurdle will hand the ball to right-handed starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow. And Glasnow will be looking to bounce back from what happened against the Reds on Monday.

In his first start of the season, Glasnow was terrible. In 1 2/3 innings pitched he allowed 5 runs on 4 hits, 5 walks, and 1 strikeout. Throughout the night on Monday, he had absolutely zero control of his pitches.

To be frank, Tyler Glasnow is too talented for starts like that. While, yes, control has always been an issue for him throughout his professional career his stuff is just too good. His opportunity to bounce back from Monday night starts today.

As I discussed earlier this week, Tyler Glasnow could benefit from having A.J. Burnett‘s attitude. What I meant by this is that Glasnow needs to challenge hitters and be more aggressive. His stuff is good enough to blow hitters away, and he needs to start to pitch like it.

This afternoon it is simple, Tyler Glasnow needs to be more aggressive. With the pure stuff that he has, if he comes out and pounds the strike zone he should be successful against the Cubs. But at this point, the ball is in Glasnow’s court.

Tyler Glasnow has a plus fastball and a great curveball. There is no reason he can not succeed as a Maor Leauge pitcher. The only thing holding him back is himself.

This afternoon the Pittsburgh Pirates need a good start from Tyler Glasnow. Their bullpen has been severely overworked in recent days, and it all started with Glasnow’s outing this past Monday. Today, Tyler Glasnow will look to bounce back against the Chicago Cubs.
