What a great weekend.  The Bucs take two of three from the Indians in front of the 1960 World Championship Pirates team.  Life, my friend, is great.  Happy Fathers Day!

I am curious what the 1960 Pirates team thought of the locker room.  Check out Face in the shower up there!  Risque!

No, seriously the Pirates remarkable performance in this series will be talked about forever. I seem to appreciate it more and more as I grow older. The video is excellent in its’ detail, even showing slow motion replay on one hell of a bad hop against Kubek. Is Uncle Hal Smith’s homer the most underappreciated homer of all time? But so did the World Champion 1960 Pittsburgh Pirate team.   The game was a little bit more important, it was the World Series. 

It was game three and the ceremonial first pitch was tossed by Ted Williams.  Yankee left hander Whitey Ford pitched  a shutout and the Bombers cruised to a 10-0 win giving them a 2-1 advantage in the Series.

Big hitters were Bobby Richardson who crushed a grand slam staking the Yanks to a 6-0 early lead.  (He would set a World Series record with six RBI.) Mickey Mantle hit his 14th career home run.
