I have an addiction. The Pittsburgh Pirates radio broadcast has a hold on me. The Pirate broadcast is the kool aid. I am the sucker drinking it. They have a cobra-clutch-like deathlock on my soul. It doesn’t matter who is covering the game, I listen.

Jason Jaramillo is a solid catcher, but credit Neal Huntington for bring in some competition for him. Rob Biertempfel reported that according to manager John Russell, “Jaramillo still must improve his game-calling, throwing and consistency at the plate.”

Luke Carlin is that competition and the switch hitter from Silver Spring, Maryland must have a gun. He threw out 36 percent of the runners who ran on him in AAA last year, 39 percent in 2008 (small percentage sizes. ) Carlin hit .321 with seven HRs and 35 RBIs in 72 games at AAA. When Carlin was with the Padres, he participated in a hilarious hazing ritual…thanks to gaslampball for the pic.
