The Pittsburgh Pirates attempt to revenge the ultimate humilation.  Last year, the Bucs fell to the hated Manatte Community College Lancers, 6- 4 in their annual scrimmage.  Yeh, that wasn’t a nightmare.  We firmly believe that  Bradenton which is known as ’The Friendly City/Little Bit of Paradise,’ will turn into a ‘Vengeful/Hell’  for these  college pranksters. 

Why isn’t there a pay-for-view?

2010 PIRATES VS MANATEES TALE OF THE TAPE

Pirates: Professional players who lost 99 games last season, but are still number one in the hearts of Pittsburgh fans.

Manatees:  College Beer Pong players currently ranked as the number one team in Florida. (heh, we are just reading this stuff off their web site) 

I think that’s enough for the tale of the tape.  Sure, the ‘Miracle on Grass’ got quite a bit of attention knowing the Pirates reputation.  But this year, the Hated Manatees are all grown up and called The State College of Florida.  The chum bucket lovers Manatees are poised to show the world it wasn’t a fluke.   Good Luck with that fellas.

You won’t have pitcher David Davidson to kick around anymore.  He blew the save last year and took the loss for the Pirates.  Thankfully, he was then blown off the 40-man roster to go on to bigger and better things like his 45.00 ERA as a Florida Marlin.

The Pirates will pitch Donnie Veal and Bryan Morris.

Miracle on Grass 2009 coverage

Talk about a reverse in direction.  Just yesterday, NH said Snell would start Sunday.  I am insanely curious as to the change in course? 

It was obvious that Snell was struggling, no question, but why comment on him starting Sunday if there was EVEN A SHIMMER of doubt.  I had heard he was going to work with Kerrigan on the side yesterday, perhaps that didn’t go quite as well as planned?

Rocco Demaro sent a Twit….  Snell said he asked to be demoted.

Maxim does a great job creating a preview like few magazines can duplicate.  They speak with Nate Silver, who has done some pretty cool things in his life.  Created PECOTA (Player Empirical Comparison and Optimization Test Algorithm–heh say that three times fast and the fifth starter job with the Pirates is yours!), works at Baseball Prospectus, and his position is called resident genius.  He is the guy that used PECOTA  to predict the Rays would win 31 more games than in ’07.  (more…)
