Class-A West Virginia Power

The West Virginia Power went 4-3 over the last week. The Power took two of three from the Greenville Drive. They wrapped up the week with a trip to Asheville where the Power earned a split with the Tourists in a four game series.

As they begin the second half of the season, the standings are reset. The Hickory Crawdads were the first half division winner. The second half division winner will face the Crawdads in the playoffs. If the Crawdads win the second half, then the team with the second best overall record will advance to face the Crawdads. More information on the playoff procedures can be found here. We will provide you the second half standings along with the overall standings in parenthesis.

South Atlantic League North Division Standings: 

West Virginia Power – 29-14 (66-46)

Hickory Crawdads – 24-19 (68-43)

Players on the move:

SS Kevin Newman was sent from the West Virginia Black Bears to the West Virginia Power on 8-9-2015.

RHP Edgar Santana was sent from the West Virginia Black Bears to the West Virginia Power on 8-9-2015.

INF Erik Forgione was sent from the West Virginia Power to the West Virginia Black Bears on 8-9-2015.

Players that stood out:

OF Michael Suchy saw his average drop to .284 while collecting eight hits, including a home run, five RBIs and seven strikeouts.

INF Jerrick Suiter had his average rise to .308 while collecting eight hits, six RBIs, three walks and five strikeouts.

OF Elvis Escobar saw his average rise to .293. He had ten hits, three RBIs, three walks, a stolen base and four strikeouts.

SS Cole Tucker has not played since July 28th.

INF Chase Simpson is now batting .258. He had five hits, including two home runs, eight RBIs, two walks and four strikeouts.

INF Jordan Luplow saw his average rise to .263 after collecting twelve hits, including two home runs, six RBIs, seven walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Austin Coley leads the team with thirteen wins and ninety-two strikeouts.

RHP Yeudy Garcia now has ten wins.

LHP Stephen Tarpley has nine wins.

RHP Nick Neumann leads the team with thirteen saves on the season.

A look at next week:

The Power return home and host the Delmarva Shorebirds in a three game series. The Power get to enjoy the day off on Thursday. Then they will head to Hickory to face the Crawdads in a three game weekend series.
