Short-Season A West Virginia Black Bears

The West Virginia Black Bears finished the week by going 3-4.  The Black Bears won the first game over the visiting Auburn Doubledays before dropping the next two. Then they hosted the State College Spikes for three games and dropped two of three. The Black Bears won the first game of the series on Sunday in Williamsport over the CrossCutters.

Williamsport Crosscutters – 30-19

All-Star Update:

In case you missed it, Logan Hill, Ty Moore, Daniel Arribas and Dario Agrazal were named to the New York-Penn League South All Star Team. For more information, check out our post.

Players on the move:

SS Kevin Newman was sent from the West Virginia Black Bears to the West Virginia Power on 8-9-2015.

RHP Edgar Santana was sent from the West Virginia Black Bears to the West Virginia Power on 8-9-2015.

INF Erik Forgione was sent from the West Virginia Power to the West Virginia Black Bears on 8-9-2015.

Players that stood out:

OF Logan Hill is currently hitting .331 with an OPS of .963. He had ten hits, including a home run, five RBIs, two walks, two stolen bases and five strikeouts. He now has an eight game hitting streak.

OF Ty Moore is currently hitting .287 with an OPS of .726. He had three hits, one RBI, one stolen base and three strikeouts.

C Daniel Arribas is currently hitting .279 with an OPS of .703. He had five hits, three RBIs, one walk and one strikeout.

1B Albert Baur is currently hitting .268. He had six hits, two RBIs, seven strikeouts and a walk.

3B Kevin Kramer is currently hitting .252. He had seven hits, four RBIs and three walks.

2B Mitchell Tolman is currently hitting .296. He had eleven hits, one RBI, three walks and one strikeout.

RHP Dario Agrazal leads the team with five wins and has thrown fifty-four innings.

RHP JT Brubaker still has four wins. He had a no decision this week.

RHP Jonathan Minier  and LHP Cesilio Pimentel lead the team with thirty-four strikeouts each.

LHP Cesilio PimentelLHP Andy Otamendi, RHP Julio Eusebio, LHP Sean Keselica are tied for the team lead with three saves each.

RHP Nick Hibbing leads the team with a 1.73 ERA.(minimum 10 innings pitched) He has thrown 26.0 innings.

A Look At Next Week:

The Black Bears will continue the three game series that started Sunday in Williamsport with the Crosscutters. Following that series, the Black Bears will return home on Wednesday to begin a three game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds. Finally, the Black Bears will end the week with a two game series on Saturday and Sunday in State College with the Spikes.
